André Watson - Undergraduate Researcher

My name is André Watson. I joined the Clayton-Bush lab in the fall of 2018 and am currently pursuing B.S.'s in Biology and Computer Science. Projects I have previously worked on in the lab include analyzing the effects of multiple parasites (Philornis flies and shiny cowbirds) and their interactions in the same chalk-browed mockingbird nests, as well as extracting and sequencing pigeon louse DNA in connection with an NSF-Dimensions of Biodiversity project. 

Before coming to the University of Utah, I did research at Utah State University on the effects of CuO and ZnO nanoparticles on the root morphology of plants and the resulting implications for drought tolerance. 

Outside the lab, I enjoy playing the viola, which I do in the university's Campus Symphony.
