André Watson - Undergraduate Researcher

My name is André Watson. I joined the Clayton-Bush lab in the fall of 2018, as a second-year student at the University of Utah.  I am currently pursuing a B.S. in Biology and Computer Science. In the lab, I primarily work with graduate student Emiko Waight on parasite evolution, and am currently helping to sequence and analyze pigeon louse DNA in connection with an NSF-Dimensions of Biodiversity project.

Before coming to the University of Utah, I did research at Utah State University studying the effects of CuO and ZnO nanoparticles on the root morphology of plants, and the resulting implications for drought tolerance.

Outside the lab, I enjoy playing the viola, which I do in the university's Campus Symphony. I am also a voracious reader, and can most often be found in a library when time allows.
